Baked apples
Ingredients:
4 large apples, such as Rome Beauty, Golden Delicious, or Jonagold
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 cup chopped peanuts or other nuts
1/4 cup currants or chopped raisins
1 tablespoon butter
3/4 cup boiling water
Production process:
Wash and dry the apples. Using a sharp paring knife or apple corer, remove the cores, leaving the bottom 1.5 cm of the apples intact.
If you are using a paring knife, first cut off the stem area and then use a small metal spoon to scoop out the seeds. Cut the holes so that they are 2.5cm or so in diameter.
Place the brown sugar, cinnamon, currants or chopped raisins, and chopped nuts (if using) in a small bowl and stir to combine.
Place the apples in a baking dish and fill each apple with the sugar filling mixture. Place a piece of butter on top of the sugar.
Pour boiling water into the bottom of the baking dish. Bake at 190°C for 30-45 minutes, until the apples are cooked and soft.
